IMDM has been reported to support various mammalian cells and tissue such as bone marrow, hematopoietic progenitors, a variety of hybrid cells and some cell lines. When utilized in conjunction with serum, it supports a broad spectrum of Mammalian cell types including but not exclusive to bone marrow, hybridomas and lymphocytes.
IMDM, or Iscove’s Modified Dulbecco’s Medium, was first developed by N.N. Iscove (1978) to successfully culture mouse B-lymphocytes to maturation without added serum. In the original IMDM recipe, Dulbecco’s Medium (DMEM) was enriched with selenium and serum replacements that consist of albumin, transferrin, and soybean lipids. Compared to other basal media, IMDM is considered a more complex and enriched synthetic media, containing greater amounts of amino acids, vitamins, and glucose. IMDM is a highly enriched media well-suited for rapid proliferating and high-density cell cultures in a 5% CO2 atmosphere. IMDM is utilized for a variety of specialized cell types and also as the basis for some of the more unique serum-free media formulations. It has been reported to support various mammalian cells and tissue such as bone marrow, hematopoietic progenitors, a variety of hybrid cells and some cell lines. When utilized in conjunction with serum, it supports a broad spectrum of Mammalian cell types including but not exclusive to bone marrow, hybridomas and lymphocytes.
